Winter

Las Posadas / La Rama  | End of December

Two local and seasonal traditions, Las Posadas is nine nights of songs, marking the biblical journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem. Children carry decorated branches from house to house for money or yuletide treats.

Flag Day  | February 24

This National Holiday celebrate Mexico’s victory in the War of Independence from the Spanish. Thousands of people gather to honor the federal flag and everything it represents!

Cozumel Carnival  | Mid-February

Starting after Ash Wednesday, Carnival is a raucous five-day celebration of dancing, music, street parties, and variety shows.

Spring

El Cedral Festival, Cozumel  | End of April

This annual event shines bright with music, dancing, feasts of roast meats, traditional rodeos, horse racing, and more!

Sacred Mayan Canoe Crossing  | May

Hundreds of oarsmen and women paddle to the mainland and back in honor of ancient ritual pilgrimages. Wake up at the start of dawn to see the boats leave from Cozumel to Xcaret before their return later in the day.

Fall

Independence Day  | September 16th

One of the most important events in Cozumel, this National Holiday begins with a historic bell ringing and recitation of the original Cry by the president. Witness military parades, bullfights, rodeos, and many more live performances across Mexico.!

All Saints Day  | November 1st

Day of the Dead celebrations take place all week long. Enjoy sweet skull-shaped Pan de Muerto and pay homage to souls of children who have passed on.
